Dolan & Traynor, Inc. is a wholesale Marketing Distributor™ of quality building specialties. Headquartered in Wayne, NJ, Dolan & Traynor’s geographic marketing area comprises the greater New York/New Jersey Metropolitan Area and the Hudson Valley region up to and including the Albany Capital District.

Dolan & Traynor’s beginning is traced back to August 1, 1948, when John Traynor came to Northern New Jersey from Wilmington, Delaware as a factory salesman for Speakman Company, a long-time quality manufacturer of faucets, showers and plumbing fixture fittings. After five years in the industry, John decided he wanted to become an independent manufacturer’s representative. On July 1, 1953, John J. Traynor Associates was formed with the joint appointment of Speakman Company and Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.

Three years later, John Traynor was persuaded to return to Wilmington, Delaware to head up Speakman Company’s sales and marketing department.  Bernie Dolan took over the rep agency, added new product lines and people, and grew the business, changing its name to Bernard R. Dolan Associates, Inc. In 1965, John Traynor resigned as V.P. of Sales at Speakman Company and returned to North Jersey to re-join Bernie Dolan in business. 

Together, they formed Dolan & Traynor, Inc.  A coin flip decided the order of the company name; a second coin flip determined that John Traynor would be president.  A handshake sealed their agreement - and still stands today through the second generation

Additional plumbing lines were acquired, warehousing capabilities were added and the company continued to grow.  In the early 1970’s, two important things happened: second generation family joined their fathers in business, and in 1972 the DuPont Company appointed Dolan & Traynor its exclusive distributor of DuPont CORIAN® in Northern New Jersey.

Today, over 50 years after John Traynor took that first job as a factory salesman for Speakman Company, Dolan & Traynor has grown from a one-man operation to one which employs over 50 associates - and from a one-product company to one which proudly represents more than 50 market-leading manufacturers.
